Match 2 is over, and it was ROUGH

Well, maybe not the matches but the rough is ROUGH… Seed heads abound; Roughs on par 4 holes 1 and 9 were cut Tuesday evening… and by game time the whole course except for tees and greens looked unmowed. Your author lost his tee shot in the left rough on #1… an optic red (for the visually impaired?) Callaway… I think I’ll run the ball picker through the roughs tomorrow to restock our used golf ball inventory…

Skins / Near Pin saw 18 players ($90 pot) trying their luck against the 7th hole. Near pin saw substitute Daniel Eignor edging our early contender Bill Drew with a 7′ 11″ effort to take $36 out of the till. Christopher Stevens (par 4 on #1) and Harry Saslow (par 3 on #2) split the $54 pot taking home a cool $27 each for their efforts. There were several “close calls” on this week’s skin game: Gary H covered Mike Lor’s par on #4 and Ron Kutkiewicz snuffed Mike’s skin on #5 with a par of his own. Hole 6 had Jamie and Justin halving the hole with pars. Holes 7, 8, and 9 had plenty of pars and no new skins… Best of Luck Next Week!!!

Team 1 John Zummo / Yvan Luxama must have thought they had it made when they realized that James Litaker couldn’t make the match and substituted Average Arnie… They were wrong. Ken Steinbuch continued his exemplary below net par golf shooting a 39 (league season leading) net 26 to guide team 3 to an 80-20 win.
Team 2 Justin / Zach continue their strong play and may have found former Master of the Meadows Champion Mike Lor’s achilles heel… Their “bowl a hole” tactics stupified Mike into an opening +6 over par first two holes and a 24-0 lead after 3 holes enroute to a 78-22 win.
Team 4 Tony / Lou got whitewashed by Brian / Harry who won 7 holes and tied 2 … final tally had Brian / Harry winning big 88-12
Lenny / (substitute) Daniel Eignor played and won a very competitive match versus Gary / Dan. Extremely close through 7 holes the match turned on the 8th and 9th holes, which Lenny / Dan captured 14-2 which proved to be the difference maker in a 61-39 win for team 5
Team 6 kept things close until the 8th and 9th holes where they pulled away from Russ / Sam 14-2 enroute to a 60-40 interfamily beatdown
First Place Jamie / Chris hold the top spot after a resounding 73-27 win of the Hulls whose handicaps continue their slow ascent into the realm of us mortals…
Dustin / Casey scored a resounding 82-18 win over Bill / Skip to leap into 2nd place.
