Week 12: got a bit damp

Did we discuss not getting wet or not getting soaked to decide whether to cancel?Oops. Doppler radar seemed to indicate that showers would move off to the east by 4PM but it seemed to hover for the duration of most everyone’s round – but ultimately only dropping a rather paltry tenth of an inch of the precious moisture we’ve been looking for since August 1 … Guess I’ll continue feeding NYSEG coffers by pumping well water in an effort to keep our greens… green.

This was a week for the Giant Killers out there to put the league leaders in their place. I hope you all appreciate the competitive atmosphere created with a legitimate handicap system…

Andrew North continued to play well tee to green as he picked up near pin honors on #4 with a 26’7″ effort … we’ll play holes 5, 6, 7, and finish the season on hole 8 over these last 4 weeks… C’mon fellas, the more the merrier when it comes to near pins and skins… only a sawbuck to play weekly…

For a while it looked like team Slater might not be able to make it to the match but they found a way and hung in against Bill Drew / John Madeo but the last two holes proved decisive for team 4
The original Giant Killers Tony Tanner’s net 27 slowed the Gold Tee boys climb up the standings with an ultra competitive effort that resulted in a 9-9 draw
The “new” Giant Killers couldn’t hold off the defending champs who stretched their league lead going into the last 4 matches of the season with a pair of net par rounds
Both Kenny “two gloves” and Ron K played fine spoilers against the upstart team 6 Andrew / Jerrod by jumping out to a big lead after 5 holes and hanging on for an easy 3 point win
Team Hull failed to move up in the standings in spite of their big 6 point win over the ghosts when team 10 failed to show and failed to post substitutes … c’mon fellas, let’s play foursomes …
