Week 13 – setting the table

Thanks everyone for successfully rescheduling your matches around this week’s rainy Wednesday afternoon!

And so, as we have for the past several years, reschedule the final 3 weeks of the season to assure the top 4 teams close out the season playing each other to determine the league championship. As I mentioned in weeks past… if your team is not a part of this mini round robin and you have an opponent that you really want a piece of in the next couple of weeks do tell me and I’ll do my best to accommodate your request. So… your top 4 teams after 13 weeks are:

  1. Defending Champs Mike Lor / Gary Hessberger
  2. New power couple Andrew North / Jerrod Hubbell
  3. The Gold Tee Boys Lenny Millen / Derek Black
  4. Perennial Contenders Mitch & Larry Hull

Their Schedule for the next three weeks:

  • August 27: 1 x 4 , 2 x 3
  • September 3: 1 x 3, 2 x 4
  • September 10: 1 x 2, 3 x 4

For this week August 27, the remainder of the schedule will be:

  • Jake & Josh Slater vs Tony Tanner / Lou Capello
  • Bill Drew / John Madeo vs Kenny Joseph / Ron Kutkiewicz
  • Yvan Luxama / John Zummo vs Evan Sydney / Chris Smith

Our end of season banquet will once again be on Wednesday September 17 in the (soon to be air conditioned) MGC clubhouse – any dietary requests should be presented ASAP. Any non league guests will cost $40 and we must receive 2 weeks advance notice of any guests – no walk ins allowed.

The ghost replacements Josh and Jake Slater put the wood to the defending champs and significantly tightened the race for the top spot… wow if they had been here from week 1 – well who knows?
The Gold Tee Boys jumped out to a 6-2 lead after 4 holes and only lost 1 hole in the match to cement their third place spot in the “final 4”
The original “Giant Killers” lost a close one point match when they dropped the 6th hole 2-0 and couldn’t muster the half point needed to tie the match over holes 7, 8, and 9
Andrew / Jerrod jumped out to an 8-4 lead after 6 holes but almost gave it back to the “new” Giant Killers who outscored them 4-2 over the last three holes – just one point short of a 9-9 draw
Kenny Joseph had another breakout round shooting a near best 35 net 27 to put the wood to league low handicapper Mitch Hull but Dad Larry Hull saved the day for fourth place team Hull even though he shot net one shot short of Ron K
