Competition top to bottom

Perhaps an up vote for our fair and honest handicapping system – David defeated Goliath in several of this week’s matches… our featured 1st vs 2nd place matchup resulted in a 9-9 tie. Top to bottom the average score improved significantly. Was it the beautiful weather? Or perhaps it was the course conditions – the heat and lack of rain has slowed down the roughs and speeded up the fairways…

We even had a new “near pin” winner on the 7th green (yeah we were supposed to be on the 8th green this week but Julie had a brain fart when she put out the stake). John Zummo (22’6″) topped Andrew North (39’2″) to grab the $22 award. There were plenty of pars on the par 3’s so the $33 skins pot got divvied in two when Mitch Hull and Mike Lor birdied the 1st and 9th hole respectively.

The Slater brothers fell behind early but turned it on winning holes 6,7,8 to pull away with a 3 point win over new sub Evan Sydney and Chris Smith
Lenny/Derrick were favored in the standings but fell on the course to the new Giant Killers who used their handicap strokes on holes 4 and 7 to win both holes 2-0 for their 4 point margin of victory
The Original Giant Killers built a lead through the first 5 holes and held on for a one point win despite Kenny’s week’s league best 38 net 23
In the week’s biggest upset Bill Drew / John Madeo both shot net 27’s as they won 5 holes and lost none to the Hulls for a lopsided 12-6 result
In this week’s featured 1st vs 2nd match Andrew North and sub Dustin Hall came back from a two point deficit on holes 8 and 9 to draw their match with the 1st place defending champs.
