First Hole In One of 2020

A certain un-named member scored the second hole in one of his storied career at The Meadows Golf Center on Friday, May 22… He prefers anonymity… his shy, unassuming nature precludes me from embarrassing him with unwanted publicity. He’d rather not hear from his fellow leaguers, or even from his partner who witnessed the shot, as did our newest member and leaguer.

The Ace happened on the 145 yard fifth hole where our lucky golfer’s 7 iron carried onto the newly mowed surface of the expansion and released, eventually finding its way to the bottom of our pandemic shortened cups.

There was, in fact a remarkable magic about not just the shot itself but the round surrounding it… Our mystery golfer was, after 3 holes, poised to shoot a disappointing (for him) +15 round (44)… considering he was already 5 over par after 3… He proceeded to par the fourth hole… EAGLE 1 the fifth hole … par the 6th hole … birdie the seventh hole (with a LONG putt)… birdie the 8th hole… and then… facing the possibility of shooting a personal best 29 with a birdie on the 9th… he pushed his tee shot far right… perhaps even over the banks and into the river. But NO… his ball found… our man steered a second shot under and through the trees towards the green and then proceeded to get up and down for a PAR and a tie for his personal best round ever… a 30! Plus 5 after 4 holes… FOUR UNDER for his final 5 holes. What A Round…

And for that… a SECOND bronze name plate under the EAGLE CLUB trophy for our friend and colleague… who will remain anonymous. I’m not telling (anyone else) and nope I’m not going to post any photos per the man’s request…
