It was an absolutely GORGEOUS afternoon and evening to play golf with ideal temperatures, sunshine, and low humidity. Things are tightening up a bit at the top with Jamie/Chris maintaining a narrow lead and Zac/Justin surging to within a few points of the leaders… third place is in flux as well as Casey posted yet another week’s best net 24… bound to drag his handicap down a couple of strokes for next week’s matches…
A thought on SKINS … the idea is that you have to post the UNIQUE BEST score on a given hole to win a skin… so just because you post a birdie doesn’t mean you’ll win a skin… somebody else in the contest can cover you… hey sometimes a par can win a skin, too… (BTW a par would have won a skin on #4 today… a par DID win a skin on #2 … and a birdie on #8 got covered ) … so no whining! Yes there’s a little bit of luck involved when it comes to skins… Ahhh but near pin… skill, baby… skill. Speaking of which I guess Justin Callahan aka “Chipper” didn’t need a wedge to hole out on #7 this week… he put his tee shot to 16’8″ to grab a cool $30 so guess he’s playing with house money for the rest of the season. Next week we’ll play on the toughest little par 3 in the Catskills… Little River… #8… you can reach it… but can you make it stick?
Hey just a reminder that at The Meadows Golf Center in league matches we play GOLF … that means we don’t play winter rules in August, September, or any other month… we post honest scores by playing it as it lies – within the rules of golf… fluffing is for porn actors right before they shoot a scene… not real golfers. You can improve your lie after any shot on the course… it’s called an “unplayable lie”… pick your ball up and drop from knee height within two club lengths no closer to the hole is one option (and don’t forget to add that penalty stroke)… otherwise please stop – or just tee your ball up … yeah… on a tee! If you’re going to cheat, cheat all the way.
