Week 13: The Round Robin is Done

So at this juncture every team has played each other once – e.g. we’ve completed the “Round Robin” portion of our schedule… so to finish up our 16 event season we will have the top 4 teams in the standings play their own 3 week round robin … So here is your league schedule for this event 14:

  • 1 x 7 Dustin/Casey vs Jamie/Christopher
  • 2 x 9 (Bye week for Gary / Tom – subs to play for ghosts if available)
  • 3 x 13 Yvan/John Zummo vs Zach / Justin
  • 4 x 5 Ken Steinbuch/James vs Mitch/Chevy
  • 6 x 10 Andrew/Florencio vs John Madeo/Chris Smith
  • 8 x 14 Mike, Justin Lor vs Skip/Bill
  • 11 x 12 Tony/Lou vs Kenny J/Ron

Event 15 schedule:

  • 1×4 … 3×9 … 5×7 … 6×11 … 8×10 … 12×13 …14(bye)

Event 16 schedule:

  • 1×5 … 3(bye) … 4×7 … 6×12 … 8×9 … 10×14 … 11×13

This week past saw scores dip a bit – perhaps due to course (read rough) conditions. I’ve put a lot of time into plowing down ALL of the roughs and perhaps if it doesn’t rain an inch or more until beyond Wednesday’s matches you might not need those flashing LED lighted balls to make it through a round without losing one. We’ll conclude our league season after week 16 matches – I’d like to schedule some greens renovation (aereation, top dressing, overseeding) while there is still time for full recuperation – conditions were lacking this season – (understatement) and continue to be a source of personal shame and embarrassment as I slowly fight back with fertilizer and fungicide to gain a measure of quality back to our putting surfaces.

team 1 fell behind after 4 holes but came on strong… but not strong enough to keep 1st place… but they’re close behind and have a strong case to win it all…
The Ghosts played pretty competitive golf against lucky team 13 but fell short of taking them down
The new “Giant Killers” may have dethroned the “old guard” in a match closer than the final scores
Another set of Giant Killers couldn’t keep the Ken Steinbuch / James Litaker team out of the top 4
Mitch / Chevy continue their onslaught and play their way to the top of the standings… will they hold onto their 8 point lead in these final three weeks?
Suddenly Andrew (low gross 31) / Florencio (low net 25) BOTH throw their hats into the ring as “Nick Malaxos Sandbagger of the Year” in the best played match of the week – team net 51 vs team net 60!
Last year’s champs are in 3rd place and show us how they did it by winning convincingly over the best golfers to par … it’s a handicapped league, after all…

    1. Wow… thanks John for your astute observation… I missed that as I was formulating the schedule… I’ve now updated the post to indicate that you will still play Team 13 (Zach/Justin) tomorrow but you will play team 10 (John Madeo/Chris Smith) on week 15… Thank you again!
